UBS Robotics Team @ FFL Finals

The UBS Coding and Robotics Club made their first appearance at the First Lego League. This year's Competition was under the team, "Hydrodynamics". Out of about 19 Teams, we were part of the top teams that made it to the finals. Although we could not win the ultimate prize, we performed well enough to return home with gold medals. In the field of robotics, hydrodynamics can be relevant when designing underwater robots or vehicles that operate in water. Understanding hydrodynamics helps engineers design robots that can move efficiently through water, withstand water currents, and maneuver effectively. It involves considerations such as the robot's shape, propulsion systems, and control mechanisms to optimize performance in underwater environments. These are some aspects that our pupils are thought in school to enhance their reasoning and learning ability for a brighter future

Hydrodynamics is important in robotics for several reasons:

1. *Efficient Movement:* Understanding hydrodynamics helps in designing robots that can move efficiently through water, minimizing energy consumption and maximizing speed and maneuverability.

2. *Stability:* Knowledge of hydrodynamics is crucial for ensuring that underwater robots remain stable and can maintain their position or trajectory in water currents or turbulent conditions.

3. *Drag Reduction:* By optimizing the shape and surface characteristics of underwater robots based on hydrodynamic principles, drag can be reduced, leading to increased speed and energy efficiency.

4. *Control Systems:* Hydrodynamics influences the design of control systems for underwater robots, enabling precise navigation and maneuvering in complex underwater environments.

5. *Environment Interaction:* Understanding hydrodynamics helps in designing robots that can interact effectively with the underwater environment, such as sampling water, collecting data, or performing tasks in marine ecosystems.

Overall, hydrodynamics plays a crucial role in the design, control, and operation of underwater robots, enabling them to perform a wide range of tasks in marine environments efficiently and effectively.
